InduSoft has the best SCADA software out there, hands down!
06:39pm 30/07/2010
I have to say, after looking at all the SCADA HMI software out there right now, the InduSoft Web Studio is definitely the best in terms of SCADA security, support, and compatibility. It's easy to use, and it runs on all the Microsoft platforms right down to windows CE.

InduSoft Web Studio definitely gets my vote for the best SCADA software on the market. I can't wait to see IWS ver.7.0.

2007 Alice and the Pirates tricorn hat
06:43pm 12/02/2010
So...I have this tricorn hat...and if you're on my FL, you've probably seen it. Anyway, it's really hard to justify keeping a hat that's worth something to someone, and only sits on a shelf here.

I am offering my FL first dibs. If no one wants it, it'll go to the texas-lolis

for my FL, it's only $100 plus shipping(if you need shipping). A&TP still sells a similar one, so I'm not under the delusion that it's an unobtainable item, though this particular one has been long since sold out.

Anyway, if no one takes it, I'm gonna offer it to the EGL girls for $150, but I know some of you have eyed it lustily in the past.

I am adding the most recent pic of me wearing it.

and another (The flower is a clip I added. It stays with me)

Because you can read a year's worth of my posts on one page...
02:54pm 01/02/2010
and also, because I never seem to get on AIM anymore, and have become generally reclusive. So...UPDATES!

This year, I have:

Bought and moved into my first home with Diego. This makes me incredibly happy - so my lack of communication has nothing to do with me being in a funk. Finding a place, moving, and getting settled has just taken a toll. This house is a goddamned Castle. Three bedrooms, two baths, and a bitchin' curvy wall. Oh, did I mention the tub deep enough for my to submerge myself in?

I have also found out that my dog, jack, has heartworms. It's treatable (and fatal if we don't treat) but a very dangerous, and painful kind of treatment. He's going to be a handful over the next few months. He's on special meds now, and get his first injection this month.

Same job - I am still running the copywriting business for my boss, and assisting with the fashion biz. We have someone in the office there now who does the shipping and stuff, but I still handle buying and photo editing. I still work from home, and I haven't gone in much lately, but I will probably need to go up within the next few weeks for meetings.

I have made about 5 loaves of bread since I moved into my house. I don't think I ever wanna live without a bread machine again.

I got my bike! My dad finally brought up the honda rebel I've been riding back in Corsicana. So now, if I can ever brave riding a standard transmission motorcycle in residential areas, I can go riding. I need a good place to practice that I can get to easily/safely. I do have the title to the bike, so I may trade it in for a scooter if it's too intimidating.

And really...that's about it. I'll get around to taking pics of the house eventually. Right now, it's still in the process of being unpacked. We haven't even cleared out the OLD apartment yet.

Party At Minda's! (Luckily, there IS still a 'Minda's')
12:19pm 12/11/2009
So, first order of business, I want to put together a Thanksgiving potluck to both celebrate Diego's birthday, and also to see people that I missed over Halloween. The best day is probably gonna be Saturday, the 28th. Does that work for anyone else?

I have beds and bedding for two in the form of a futon, and I am gonna get an air mattress to accommodate two more if need be. Give me an RSVP if you think you'd like to have some dinner party fun. Thinking about making this a HEALTHY themed event, so if you wanna bring stuff, we're all about the veggies, and the fat free ingredients. I'll cover Entrees, but feel free to bring sides, drinks, nothing, presents for Diego, or show up with just a guilty look on your face - I don't care.

So, in OTHER news, I got sued today. For reals. A cop showed up at my door and everything to hand me papers to show up in court. Diego and I both, actually. See, the WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX IN AUSTIN, TX, The Estates At Shoreline (See what I did there, SEO friends?)Sued us for nonpayment of this month's rent.

Only, I happen to have a signed and dated copy of the check that we gave them for that rent, along with the bank statement that shows that it was withdrawn from our account. So, you can see that we were a bit upset about being evicted when we had, in fact, PAID OUR FUCKING RENT!

Needless to say they've dismissed the case, but Jeezus! This is just another event in a very long line of them that make us regret ever signing on with this place. We are out of here the SECOND this lease is up. If I find a nice house, I may just go in and say "look, since you guys suck so bad, can we just...y'know..leave?"

So, Halloween plans?
02:50pm 20/10/2009
Okay, so here's the deal. All the good stuff in Dallas is going on the weekend BEFORE Halloween, which is, coincidentally, when all the cool stuff is happening in Austin.

Now, I'll be in Austin because the cool stuff here is local to me, and I also have long term fun plans here for that weekend (no one will be miffed if you stay in Dallas though, C&M - just trying to get a head count, so lemme know what you're planning)

As for ACTUAL Halloween, as far as I know, a lot of people I like are going to be in Dallas, BUT it looks like I'll definitely be in Austin for that weekend, too. I've got the zombie horror remix on Friday night, and then I kinda wanna hit up Wurst Fest in New Braunfels on Saturday. I dunno what exactly I'll be doing on Saturday night just yet, but this being Austin, I imagine I'll find something.

I hope nobody thinks I'm dissing them because I am sticking around here. It's more just a matter of not wanting to drive allll the way up to Dallas just for one evening.

That said, anyone who wants to hit up Wurst Fest with us, and do stuff here on Halloween night is welcome to join!

Also, if you guys decide to move the party down here, we'll make room for everyone.

I used to make AMV's from time to time, but it's been ages since I played around with any video editing. I made this for Lauren's hungry ghost cinema show coming up in October.

Life in general
09:47am 19/06/2009
I think I'll make a post about my actual life today. I know most of you either know this stuff already, or don't care, but I realize that a few out of town people on my FL may not be as up to date as the people I talk to every day. This is mainly directed at my Austin friends, who may not be aware that I walk among you.

Living - I live in Austin again. I've been here for about a month, and I have a place with Diego up here near where Mopac meets 45. Northity North. About 10 - 15 minutes from Ikea.

Job - I work from my house, which is nice in its way. Sometimes I miss having a physical office, because I get to leave one of those every now and again. Not many complaints, though. I get a decent salary, an iphone from my boss, and the work is challenging, but not impossible. Mostly. For all that I gripe about my job, I have it pretty good.

Relationship - living with Diego, and it's really nice. I am enjoying myself quite a lot.

Free Time - when I have it, I generally spend it going to the Alamo draft house, or the flying saucer, or hanging out with my Dad who seems to be in town every other week for something that involves some combination of cooking chili, motorcycles, and lots of beer. I also get to play some video games. I really ought to hang out with some Austin people more, now that I mostly get my weekends free. I also go down to C-town a lot more than I used to, so I could theoretically catch up with Corsicana people on occasion.

In other news, there isn't much other news. My sister is engaged, and she'll be getting married sometime next year. I'm just doing my own thing here, and it's working pretty well. Since I work from the house, I get to keep the dog from going nuts, but he's gotten a little spoiled, and tends to chew on any blankets not on the bed (and probably rapes them too) when we leave.

Desktop meme from Goodbyebartleby
03:41pm 12/06/2009
  Desktop meme!
001: Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper at their LiveJournal.
002: Explain in five sentences why you're using that wallpaper.
003: Don't change your wallpaper before doing this. The point is to see what you had on.

1 - I was setting up my bittorent on the new computer
2 - I haven't paid for a CD since Steal This Album by SOAD.
3 - I enjoy maps a great deal
4 - I like the pirate bay's logo
5 - This wallpaper is full of nerdy internet humor, but most of it's covered by all my crap.

The world wants me scared
07:01am 28/04/2009
I think it's mildly hilarious that last week, I started listening to The Stand on audiobook, for something to have on in the car...and this week a big flu outbreak is shutting schools and closing public gatherings in Mexico.

God hates me. And people with the Flu, but mostly me.

The Boy meme
08:57am 26/02/2009
1.He's sitting in front of the TV, what is on the screen?
An old movie starring Cary Grant, or perhaps some ‘rasslin.

2. You're out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad?
It depends on how health conscious he’s feeling, I think. I’ve known him to eat Italian dressings, but I haven't really paid much attention to how he flavors his greens.

3. What's one food he doesn't like?
He’ll eat shrimp, but he’s not particularly fond of it.

4. You go out to eat and have a drink. What does he order?
If we’re at the Alamo, a Fireman’s #4, or maybe one of their special drafts. Anywhere else, probably a Stella.

5. Where did he go to high school?
Corpus Christi

6. What size shoe does he wear?
10.5, I think.

7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be?
Luchador masks, or action figures.

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich?
Probably the big Jimmy John’s sammich on wheat bread.

9. What would this person eat every day if he could?
Japanese style Curry

10. What is his favorite cereal?
I’ve never known him to eat any, but he kinda strikes me as a Captn’ Crunch sort of guy.

11. What would he never wear?
A tutu. He seems pretty comfortable in just about anything else.

12. What is his favorite sports team?
Do wrestlers and boxers count as a team?

13. Who did he vote for?
The same person that more than half the country voted for.

14. Who is his best friend?
Well, of course it’s me! Or maybe TJ.

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn't do?
Forget to lock doors/sign onto aim....make him worry in general.

16. What is his heritage?
He’s half French German-American (white) and half Mexican on his momma’s side.

17. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake?
Cheesecake, of course! Maybe even Blueberry cheesecake.

18. Did he do any sports in high school?
He was a ‘rassler

19. What could he spend hours doing?
Watching movies. That’s something we share in common, and we see a LOT of movies.

20. What is one unique talent he has?
He has a way of giving life to things, both in drawings and in little stories. He’s very good at making up voices for all the crazy shit Jack ‘says when I’m not around’, and he never shows off his artwork, but his robots and animals are really expressive.

Interview Meme from Goodbyebartleby
02:43pm 02/02/2009
1)Being something of a clothes horse, how do you generally attire yourself for work?

More than you ever wanted to know about my ‘style’
I dress myself according to the following principles, in roughly this order:
1: What’s Clean?
2: How am I feeling?
3: Am I going out for Breakfast?
4: Have I overslept?
All things being optimum, I dress in businesslike slacks, with a button up top, and designer accessories. If said business attire is too far from Laundry Day, I dress in jeans with a cute top, and perhaps a jaunty vest. If I desperately want pancakes, I just grab some jeans and a fitted shirt, and maybe toss on some accessories. If I’ve overslept…well…there’s really no accounting for how I come to work looking. I don’t deal with customers, so our dress code at work is nonexistent. Despite nearly single handedly running the place, I am still expected to move heavy boxes from time to time, so I rarely opt for heels. Also, there’s the mess with the photography, and it’s a pain to take off a million necklaces and rings, so if I know I’m shooting something I’ll leave them off.

2)What's your fondest RP memory?

I have two. I wouldn’t call them fond RP memories, so much as just fond memories in general. They’re actually some of the nicest memories I have. The first happened while I was on vacation in Boston with some friends. I spent my nights on a borrowed computer, playing all sorts of really deranged stuff, while one of my friends kept a running commentary. I enjoyed how interactive it was, and I always get crazy idea bursts when I’m able to bounce them off people who know what I’m talking about. This was just after I made Avram, and Meriko was still around.
The other really lovely memory I have, is when I lived at my apartment in Corsicana, and still went to school. It was a Saturday, and I spent the ENTIRE day on the computer. I think that was the day we played the Wedding Scene. It was just so nice because I didn’t have a thing to do except enjoy myself.

3)Where do you see yourself in five years?

HAha…you’re going to make me put someone on the spot, here. In five years, I see myself pretty much where I am now, only probably relocated, and probably married. I don’t expect five years to make much of a difference in terms of my salary, and I’ll still be doing some sort of graphics work. I also see myself having a big screen TV, and an internet connection so that I can use my X-box to its full capabilities.

4)If you could pursue absolutely any career and know you'd succeed at it, what would you choose?

ACTING. I always looked forward to being in the community theater plays, and the drama club was a big part of my life in high school. I gave it up for college, because I knew it wouldn’t get me anywhere. If I knew it was a no-risk career path, I’d be all over it like Dead on Elvis.

5)What's your favourite movie!

This isn’t easy for anyone to answer. I’ll go with my gut, which says The Last Unicorn. It has a titty tree, and sparkly unicorns. My mom forbade me to watch it anywhere but my own room as a child, because she was so sick of it.

If you'd like to participate~

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me!"
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

I can has car?
10:18pm 26/01/2009
Today was a mildly traumatic day. I was driving to work this morning, as people are prone to do on Mondays. I do this kind of thing five times a week without incident. Well, not so much today. Some horrible woman apparently was behind the door when sense got handed out. She decided to swing over into my lane without signaling or looking into her mirror.

Long story short, My car's a mangled mess. Suspension's shot, axle's bent, and probably other related damages happened. Oh, and the entire front right end of my car is GONE. The estimate I got to fix is it over 5K, which is more than the car is worth, so I will probably end up stuck buying a 'new' car. Not really something I was budgeting for. At least I didn't get banged up in the process. I have hardly a bruise to show for it.

Her insurance is paying, at least, since she's the one with her brains spread so thin it's like Texas snow. So now I am wondering…

What kinda car should I get? Right now, I am leaning toward another Toyota, but not really a corolla. I just need something cheap, and durable. Suggestions?
